I remember coming to see you prior to the first class regarding my concerns over taking a science course and finding one that I enjoyed and was able to be interested in. Just wanted to send quick e-mail. Very happy that I decided to stick around!!! Don't remember ever being this interested in science, and I have actually grown a desire in keeping up with several of the topics of the course. Science is not my strongest area but this course rejuvenated some interest for me! I loved the hands on approach to lectures and the multiple layers to student participation and involvement in the material, which in itself I found very interesting. Thanks for great semester!

Coming from a non-science major (Crim), I was surprised at how interesting the course really turned out to be. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone needing to fulfill a Category C Breadth requirement. The course was easy to follow, lectures were really interactive and the readings were easy to comprehend...I've learned some study tips for success on exams and tons of interesting information and debunking some common myths that the average person would not have known. The weekly quizzes were a great way to keep on top of readings and lecture attendance and gave students a chance to test their knowledge and keep engaged in course materials. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the material that was presented and hope this course continues to be developed and taught. I had a great semester and really enjoyed the course and having you teach it.

I like that you are willing to experiment with different teaching methods and you really seem invested in us really learning and not just throwing us information. You also do a really good job at explaining complex topics in understandable ways. This is great for someone who is an English major and not great with science. I really enjoy the kahoot quizzes as well, I think they are a fantastic learning tool.

About in-class participation...
I liked the participation, I think it facilitated our learning by making us contribute whether that be on the forum or in class activities. I have not had many profs do this but I thought it was a nice change. It encourage me to be more intuitive with my learning in this course.

Great that you were looking for new ways to stimulate learning...Tying some of the participation into attendance was a good idea. I am strong believer that attendance to lectures benefits learning, even if only to compel a student think about the subject for the couple of hours you are talking. Good job overall.
